§ Mr. DorrellMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State has approved the Whittington hospital's expression of interest in becoming an NHS trust, operational from 1 April 1993. A draft application is expected by the end of March and, in line with other applicants, the Whittington hospital will submit its final application by the end of April. All applications for NHS trust status are subject to a statutory public consultation period.
