§ Mr. AtkinsThe implementation of those aspects of sex education which are included in national curriculum science arc being monitored by Her Majesty's inspectorate and by local education authorities. The National Curriculum Council is also carrying out a detailed evaluation of how the core subjects are being delivered in the classroom. Beyond the statutory requirements of 249W national curriculum science, schools' governing bodies are responsible for deciding whether any further sex education should be included in their schools' curriculum and, if they decide that additional sex education should be provided, for determining policy on its content and organisation.
