§ Mr. DowdTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport when the further recommendations of his Department's consultants, Travers Morgan, arising from the south circular assessment study will be made public.
§ Mr. NorrisA decision was taken in March 1990 not to proceed with the major road building schemes recommended by the London assessment studies. The consultants were asked to examine more limited improvements to reduce accidents and to deal with local bottlenecks. Their findings have since been considered and developed further by the Department and no useful purpose would now be served by publishing them. Local authorities and others will be consulted when the Department is ready to bring forward proposals.
