HL Deb 24 June 1992 vol 538 cc35-6WA
Lord Mason of Barnsley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will conduct a study of the migration of cormorants from the coastline to inland waters, particularly the Trent valley of the North West of England, with specific reference to their predatory activity and its adverse effects on the future survival of sawbills and grebes; and whether they will consider the possibility of a cull of the cormorants.

Lord Strathclyde

The Government have no plans to undertake a study into the migration of cormorants to inland waters. There are no proposals to control the population of these birds.
