§ Mr. Peter LloydA nursery was opened at Her Majesty's prison Holloway in May 1991; other prison service establishments who have shown an intererst in providing child care facilities are receiving encouragement and guidance. General guidance on the provision of child care facilities, drawing on the experience of Holloway and other departmental nurseries, is being prepared and will be circulated to all establishments, later this year.

The figure is for all recorded assaults on staff and includes assaults incurred by staff whilst on duty within and outside penal establishments. Assaults are recorded as either major or minor incidents. Major assaults are those assaults where the matter has been reported to the police, while minor assaults are those which are not reported to the police. The total figure comprises 273 minor assaults and 46 major assaults.
