§ Mr. OttawayTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment who are the Ministers responsible for green issues in each Government department; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. HowardThe environment is not just the concern of one Government Department, and the nomination of Green Ministers in each Department is an important part of our strategy to ensure that environmental considerations are taken into account in all policy areas. Green Ministers follow up the commitments relevant to their Departments in the Government's 1990 White Paper on the Environment. They ensure the integration of environmental concerns with the policy and work of their own Departments. And they broadcast the environmental message in their own field.
