To ask the President of the Board of Trade when the Government will respond to the recommendations made by the Select Committee for Energy in its second report. 1991–92 on the consequences of electricity privatisation.

The Government welcome the Committee's thorough and wide ranging investigation into the consequences of electricity privatisation. A memorandum, setting out the Government's response to the Committee's recommendations, has been placed in the Library of the House. A further memorandum, setting out the response of the Direct General of Electricity Supply, has also been placed in the Library.
