HC Deb 02 June 1992 vol 208 c475W
Mr. Barry Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if she will consider the Isle of Wight for a pilot study into employment prospects for women, in the light of the increase revealed in the 1991 census returns.

Mr. McLoughlin

There are no plans for a special study covering the Isle of Wight. The increases between 1981 and 1991 in the percentages of women on the Isle of Wight working as full-time employees, part-time employees and as self-employed, and the small decline in the percentage who are unemployed, show that, as in the United Kingdom as a whole, employment opportunities for women have increased.
