To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the number of local authority houses in Leicester in 1979, 1989 and 1991.

Leicester city council reported a total of 35,945 council dwellings in its April 1979 housing investment programme return. Corresponding figures reported in 1989 and 1991 were 31,639 and 30,172 respectively.
