Mr. Ainger

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the latest estimate of the number of civilian employees who will lose their jobs when fast jet training ceases at RAF Brawdy.

We have issued 42 redundancy notices so far, with a further four to follow. In addition, a total of 10 employees are to be transferred either to other Government Departments or within MoD.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the total cost to his Department of redundancy and other linked payments to those civilian employees who will lose their jobs when tactical weapons training ceases at RAF Brawdy.

The total cost to the Department is estimated to be in the region of £440,000.
