Mr. William Powell

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security (1) what is his latest estimate of the number of persons receiving payment of child benefit through the Post Office;

(2) what is his latest estimate of the number of pensioners receiving their pensions through the Post Office.

The administration of child benefit, widows benefits and retirement pensions are a matter for Mr. Michael Bichard, the chief executive of the Benefits Agency. He will write to my hon. Friend and copies will be placed in the Library and the Public Information Office.
