Sir Michael Grylls

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will state what is the maximum volume of traffic he expects the M25 and the new proposed feeder roads together to take.

Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

[holding answer 13 July 1992]: My Department has produced forecasts of traffic flows on the M25 between junctions 12 and 15 for the year 2015. On the basis of high growth assumptions, the volumes of traffic expected to use this section of the motorway and the proposed new link roads expressed as average annual daily traffic, are as follows:

  • Junctions 12–13—210,000
  • Junctions 13–14—228,000
  • Junctions 14–15—220,000

Sir Michael Grylls

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will place in the Library the paper outlining the different options for solving the congestion on the M25.

Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

I will write to my hon. Friend.
