§ Mr. McLoughlinThe total number of staff employed by the Department at 1 July 1992 was 59,684 at a total salary cost provision for 1992–93 of £1,037.2 million. The staffing level in 1970–71 was 27,872 at an annual salary cost of £41.8 million.
