HL Deb 14 July 1992 vol 539 c17WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will undertake a full process of consultation with all the relevant nongovernmental organisations who are in daily contact with asylum-seekers, before introducing a new Asylum Bill; and if not, why not.

The Minister of State, Home Office (Earl Ferrers)

The Government remain committed to the objectives of the Bill that was before the last Parliament. We are looking further at particular points, but we intend to reintroduce its main provisions in substantially the same form. We are in regular contact with interested organisations and are generally familiar with their views. We are prepared to consider any additional points which they may wish to raise.
