HC Deb 13 July 1992 vol 211 c453W
Mr. Betts

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what assessment he has made of the number of civil servants in his Department who could be relocated to provincial centres as part of the policy of devolving and decentralising Government Departments.

Miss Widdecombe

There are 662 posts being relocated from the south-east to Leeds over the next year; the first staff from DSS moved into the new Leeds building, Quarry house, last week. In addition 3,000 new posts will be created outside London in 1993, when Child Support Agency centres are established in Belfast, Birkenhead, Dudley, Falkirk, Hastings and Plymouth.
