§ Mr. DuncanTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will require county councils to provide information to district councils which is considered necessary by district councils for the purposes of their submissions to the Royal Commission on the restructuring of local government.
§ Mr. Robin SquireUnder schedule 2 to the Local Government Act 1992, public bodies have a duty to supply the Local Government Commission with any information which it reasonably requires in connection with any of its functions. My right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State intends to direct the commission to make such information available on request to local authorities provided the information is not sensitive for commercial or other reasons.
