§ Mr. Charles WardlePolice forces recognise the need to give all witnesses as much notice as possible of the date of the trial, and generally do so as soon as they know the date from the Crown court lists. If the trial date is unexpectedly brought forward, however, they might only be able to give witnesses comparatively short notice.
