§ Mr. Neil HamiltonIn response to a question from Lord Brougham and Vaux on 24 July 1990, Lord Strathclyde welcomed the British Waterways Board's third and final response to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission's 1987 report. The board accepted almost all the commission's recommendations.
At paragraph 2.35 of its 1987 report, the commission recommended that a further external review of BWB's progress in improving its efficiency should be undertaken in five years' time. There is no immediate plan to invite the commission to undertake such a review.
