§ Mr. John PattenNone. It would not be possible to provide central funds for every local crime prevention initiative. Between 1986 and 1988 a civilian neighbourhood watch assistant in the sub-division was appointed under the community programme. Since January 1991 there has been a similar placement under the employment training programme. I understand from Durham constabulary that local funding of a permanent neighbourhood watch assistant in the area is under consideration.
