§ Mr. MaudeBuilding societies paid £614 million of mainstream corporation tax in 1989–90 and £556 million in 1990–91. Industrial and provident societies and co-operative societies paid £33 million in 1989–90 and £43 million in 1990–91. Further disaggregation of these figures could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
