§ Mr. Gareth WardellTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will publish for the period 1 January to 31 March the number of patients who will have major joint replacement surgery carried out at the Prince of Wales Orthopaedic hospital, Rhydlafar, Cardiff, on a contractual basis with his Department in its role as a treatment centre.
§ Mr. Nicholas BennettThe Department contracts with the treatment centres on a financial year basis. In the current year the orthopaedic treatment centre at the Prince of Wales hospital, Rhydlafar is contracted to perform 250 major joint replacement operations and 40 other minor procedures. The centre is on course to meet this target.
