To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many undergraduates and postgraduates from universities and other institutions of higher education are employed during the summer vacation at(a) the Chemical and Biological Defence Establishment at Porton Down and (b) the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Aldermaston; and for what purposes.

During the 1991 summer vacation there were 33 students employed at the Atomic Weapons Establishment. The director general of the Chemical and Biological Defence Establishment will be writing to the hon. Member.
