HC Deb 20 January 1992 vol 202 c63W
Mr. Harry Barnes

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will give details about the last consignment of plutonium that was flown from a United Kingdom airport to(a) another airport in the United Kingdom and (b) an airport abroad, including (i) dates of transit, (ii) quantities and (iii) destinations; and what is his policy in respect of allowing future such consignments to be transported by air.

Mr. McLoughlin

The policy is that all transport of radioactive materials to and from the United Kingdom shall comply with the International Atomic Energy Agency regulations.

Only in certain cases do movements of radioactive material have to be notified to my Department.
