§ Dr. MawhinneyAll schools are funded by formulae which allocate additional resources to schools in respect of children with special needs and social deprivation. In addition, under the Making Belfast Work and Londonderry initiatives, the Department of Education for Northern Ireland has targeted almost £3 million over the last three years at selected primary and secondary schools. This is aimed at improving educational standards and the employability of pupils.
