§ Mrs. MahonTo ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the total number of employees in his Department; and how many are(a) black and (b) disabled.
§ Mr. AtkinsOn 1 April 1991 the Department employed a headcount total of 2,838 staff of whom 261 respondents to the ethnic monitoring survey were of ethnic minority origins.
The latest figures provided on registered disabled staff relate to 1 June 1991 at which time there were 70 registered disabled staff out of a total of 2,679 full-time equivalent staff. There are other staff in the Department with disabilities who have chosen not to register and are not included in the above figure.
