§ Mr. Nicholas Bennett[holding answer 17 February 1992]: At 30 September 1990; there were 4.6 (whole-time equivalent) consultants with a main specialty of cardiology in Wales, which equates to 1.6 per million population.
There were also six consultants with a main speciality of general medicine who were recorded as having an interest in cardiology; ie, undertaking at least one session per week in cardiology.
