§ Mr. YeoThe numbers of assured shorthold tenancies can only be estimated from survey evidence. The Office of Population Censuses and Surveys 1990 private renters survey estimated that there was a total of 136,000 assured shorthold tenancies in mid-1990. This is the most recent figure available.
