HC Deb 13 February 1992 vol 203 c625W
Mr. Barry Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what information he has issued on action taken by training and enterprise councils, the Employment Service and others in response to job losses, with particular reference to the Isle of Wight.

Mr. Jackson

The Department has recently published an information pack entitled "Local Action for Employment—Tackling Job Losses", which contains information on the help available from training and enterprise councils—TECs—and the Employment Service—ES—when redundancies occur, and on the part local action groups can play in responding to job losses. The pack contains specific examples of best practice by TECs, the ES and local action groups in redundancy situations.

The pack will be made available to companies incurring job losses and to other agencies and individuals interested in local action in response to job losses. The pack should be of assistance in helping respond to job losses on the Isle of Wight, as elsewhere. The pack may be of interest to hon. Members and copies have been placed in the Library.
