HL Deb 05 February 1992 vol 535 c11WA
Lord Williams of Elvel

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many soldiers or airmen under the age of 18 were involved in action in the Gulf War, and what casualties there were in that group.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State Ministry of Defence (The Earl of Arran)

It is not possible to identify how many soldiers and airmen under 18 years of age were involved in action in the Gulf war, but at the end of hostilities there were 130 soldiers and three airmen under 18 years of age serving in the Gulf. During the period of hostilities, one soldier aged 17 was killed in action but no soldiers or airmen under 18 years of age were injured.
