§ 19. Mr. ButlerTo ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will make a statement on targeting help towards particularly needy pensioner groups.
§ Miss WiddecombeIn April 1992 the benefit payable to low income pensioners will be uprated by 7 per cent.—nearly 3 per cent. more than the retail prices index. In addition to this, pensioners aged 80 and over, and younger disabled pensioners in receipt of income related benefits, will receive further increases worth £60 million in a full year.
This brings the total extra help to pensioners in receipt of income related benefits to some £335 million a year above normal upratings over the last two and a half years.
