HC Deb 17 December 1992 vol 216 c459W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list all papers deposited by his Department at the public inquiry into the application to build a dry store for spent nuclear fuel at the Torness nuclear plant; how many officials from his Department are expected to attend the inquiry; and what budget has been made available to cover the costs of the inquiry.

Mr. Stewart

[holding answer 11 December 1992]: Two statements have been deposited by the Scottish Office Environment Department. One is a brief resume of radioactive waste management policy and the other gives a detailed statement of the regulatory regime operated by Her Majesty's industrial pollution inspectorate in Scotland. Scottish Office officials will attend the inquiry as necessary; thus far two officials from the Scottish Office Environment Department have given oral evidence. No specific budgetary provision has been made for this inquiry.
