§ Mr. David HuntThe number of people aged under 25 years, and registered as unemployed in October of this year, has fallen by more than 35 per cent. compared with the number of those registered in the same month in 1986. This compares with a United Kingdom decrease of just under 28 per cent. for the same period.
39WThe training and enterprise councils and the careers service are working closely together to ensure that suitable youth training provision is made available for 16 and 17-year-old school leavers. Measures recently announced by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment (including the new training for work programme) will further extend the range of assistance available.
