HL Deb 14 December 1992 vol 541 c24WA
Baroness Cox

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is their policy with regard to funding people selected for training as lay school inspectors, and to what extent they are expected to bear the costs themselves; and

How many of the people selected for school inspectors' training courses in the autumn term 1992 have come from positions in the local education authorities or national statutory bodies such as the School Examinations and Assessment Council or the National Curriculum Council.

The Minister of State, Department of Education (Baroness Blatch)

The arrangements for the selection, training and registration of inspectors under the Education (Schools) Act 1992, for the purpose of carrying out inspections under Section 9 of that Act, are all responsibilities of Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools.
