To ask the Secretary of State for Health what will be the dimensions of the warning notices required by section 4 of the Children and Young Persons (Protection from Tobacco) Act 1991.

In the light of consultation on the draft regulations, we shall shortly be making regulations which will provide that the notice for display at premises where tobacco is sold is to be not less than 297 mm x 420 mm (A3), and the lettering is to be not less than 36 mm high. The notice to be affixed to cigarette vending machines is to be not less than 60 mm x 100 mm, and the lettering not less than 6 mm high.
