HC Deb 09 December 1992 vol 215 c702W
24. Sir Fergus Montgomery

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress he expects to have been made by the Local Government Commission in reviewing the structure of local government by the end of 1993.

Mr. Redwood

By the end of 1993 the Local Government Commission should have completed its reviews of local government structure, boundaries and electoral arrangements in the Isle of Wight, Derbyshire, and Cleveland and Durham and have reached the final stage of its reviews of Avon, Gloucestershire and Somerset and Humberside, Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire. The Commission should also have begun some of the reviews in the second tranche of its work programme.
