HC Deb 09 December 1992 vol 215 c682W
Mr. Harvey

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what plans he has to make it possible for a woman of pensionable age to claim a dependancy allowance for a man who is not.

Miss Widdecombe

It is already possible for a woman aged 60 or over to receive an increase of retirment pension for a husband who is under 65, provided she had entitlement to an increase of invalidity, sickness or unemployment benefit immediately prior to retirement. The Government will be looking at these rules in the context of their consideration of the equalisation of pension age.
