Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will make a statement on(a) the establishment of her Department's nutritution task force, (b) its terms of reference, (c) its timetable for reporting and (d) the names of the members of the task force and their professional qualifications.

Dr. Mawhinney

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State announced the membership of the nutrition task force on 7 December 1992. The terms of reference are to be agreed at its first meeting on 16 December 1992. We anticipate receiving the nutrition task force's report on the proposed action programme by late spring 1993, details will then be published. Further details are available in the Library (Department of Health press notice H92/438).

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what action she is taking to implement the catering guidelines of "The Health of the Nation" White Paper; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Sackville

The nutrition task force will consider the opportunities for the promotion of healthy eating. This will include issuing voluntary nutritional guidelines for catering establishments.
