§ Mr. DorrellThe 1992 Treasury-ProShare share ownership survey showed that 22 per cent. of the adult population in Great Britain owned shares. Of these shareholders, 45 per cent. were in full-time employment; 10 per cent. were in part-time employment; 2 per cent. were students; 5 per cent. were retired; and 37 per cent. were inactive or unemployed.
