HC Deb 07 December 1992 vol 215 c507W
Mr. Michael

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales whether he will make it his policy to support the continued work of the pay review body for nurses, midwives, health visitors and professions allied to medicine in order to provide objective evidence on comparative pay levels irrespective of any Government action to restrain pay in the short-term.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

I refer the hon. Gentleman to the reply given to my hon. Friend the Member for Chelmsford (Mr. Burns) by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer, on 13 November, at columns1002–3. The Government are confident that the review body system is the right way of determining the pay of those staff within their remits.
