To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many juveniles were convicted of offences in each of the years 1990, 1991 and 1992; and what percentage were aged(a) between 10 and 14 years and (b) between 15 and 17 years.

Information for 1990 and 1991 (which is provisional) is given in the table. 1992 data will not be available until autumn 1993.

(2) how many citizens from (a) Serbia, (b) Montenegro, (c) Croatia and (d) Bosnia-Herzegovina have been granted permanent residence status in the United Kingdom during the months of September, October and November.

[holding answer 3 December 1992]: In the period January to October 1992 a total of around 4,000 nationals of the former Yugoslavia (excluding dependants) have applied for asylum in the United Kingdom, of which around 2,000 applied during September and October 1992. The large majority of the applications are still under consideration. More detailed information on the origin of the applicants is not available.

Information on asylum applications in November, and on acceptances for settlement in the United Kingdom in the period September to November of nationals of the former Yugoslavia, is not yet available.
