§ Mr. Ray PowellA 10-year programme for upgrading fire precautions within the Palace of Westminster is nearing its completion. It has been agreed by Her Majesty's inspector of fire services. Following the appointment of a fire safety manager earlier this year, those measures and related procedures are already under review. As part of the existing procedures, all areas of the parliamentary estate, including Westminster hall, are patrolled regularly by members of the Palace of 363W Westminster fire section. Plans for further preventive measures, which will specifically include protection For the roof of Westminster hall, are in hand.
