§ Dr. WrightTo ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will consider imposing an obligation on local authority inspection units to make publicly available their reports on residential care homes in the private and voluntary sectors and in local authority homes; and if she will make a statement.
§ Mr. YeoWe expect local authorities to allow public access to the reports on individual care homes and other services prepared by inspection units, under the terms set out in chapter 5 of the policy guidance "Community Care in the Next Decade Beyond". The consultation document "Inspecting Social Services" published on 2 October 1992 contains proposals aimed at increasing the influence of inspection reports and ensuring their public availability.
