To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if Her Majesty's Government will reconsider implementing section 7 of the Disabled Persons (Services, Consultation and Representation) Act 1986.

Mr. Nicholas Bennett

The need to implement section 7 will be reconsidered in the light of experience in implementing the Government's comprehensive programme of action to secure effective care after hospital treatment which, in Wales, is being taken forward under the all-Wales mental illness strategy.
