§ Mr. ThurnhamTo ask the Secretary of State for Health whether he has received a copy of the report of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists working party on unplanned pregnancy; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyYes. The working party's report on unplanned pregnancy is a helpful and positive contribution to the current debate on family planning. The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists is currently sending copies of the report to regional, district and family health service authority general managers. In July regional health authorities in England were asked, as part of the NHS management executive's 1992–93 initiative for securing better health services for individuals, to review family planning service provision and to ensure effective coordination of services offered by GPs and family planning clinics. Later this year we shall be issuing guidelines to help regions in their reviews.
