Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list for each local authority for(a) the end of August 1990 and (b) the end of August 1991 the percentage of uncollected community charge.

Mr. Key

Local authorities are currently returning forms from which the information requested for August 1991 could be derived. The latest available information showing the difference between community charges collected and the amounts authorities budgeted to collect as a percentage of the latter is for the end of June 1991. I am placing this and the information for the corresponding month of 1990 in the Library of the House.

Mr. Paice

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the individual categories of population and pupil statistics together with the date applicable to each category which he will be using to calculate the standard spending assessments for local authorities for the financial year 1992–93.

Mr. Key

My right hon. Friend will be making an announcement shortly about the provisional revenue support grant settlement for 1992–93 which will include detailed proposals for standard spending assessments.
