HC Deb 18 October 1991 vol 196 c254W
Mr. Atkinson

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs in what ways the criteria of good government and human rights are being applied in determining aid to individual countries; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Chalker

Individual aid programmes are kept under regular review to ensure appropriate and effective use of resources. The Government announced in June a target of £50 million in new bilateral commitments for direct assistance on good government in the coming year.
