HC Deb 14 October 1991 vol 196 c95W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many windmills have been grant-aided in less-favoured areas; what is the effective generating capacity; what percentage were(a) grid-connected and (b) for self-sufficiency purposes only; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Curry

Grants are available to farmers under the Farm and Conservation Grant Scheme for energy saving investments including grants towards the cost of constructing wind-powered generators whose main purpose is to serve the needs of the holding for electricity. No farmers in the less favoured areas of England and Wales have received grants for this purpose since the introduction of the scheme in 1989.
