§ Mr. Alan HowarthA total of 8,446 awards have been offered to new students undertaking higher degrees in the United Kingdom in the academic year 1991–92 of which 6,596 were in the sciences and 1,850 in the fields of social sciences and humanities. Actual allocations are not yet known.
