Government action to open the market through deregulation and privatisation will force commercial operators to provide the services that passengers want. This must surely be of benefit to all bus passengers in London.
§ 18. Mr. David MarshallTo ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he next intends to meet with the chairman of London Buses to discuss deregulation.
§ Mr. FreemanI have regular meetings with the chairman of London Transport and London Buses Ltd. to discuss issues relating to public transport provision in London, including bus deregulation. In addition, officials are in regular contact with London Transport as plans for deregulation develop.
