§ Mr. SpearingTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what meetings have taken place since July of representatives of member Governments of the European Economic Community concerning the transport of live animals; what topics were addressed; what conclusions reached; what proposals he expects to be made; and when he expects them to be published.
§ Mr. MacleanDiscussions have been continuing on the proposals for a directive on the protection of animals during transport and I expect these to come before the Council of Ministers later this month. Our objective is to ensure that animals are properly cared for on all journeys in the Community.
